Which Oil Type Should You Use on Your Next Oil Change Service?
Sonoma Auto Tech trained technicians can help you understand the difference between the oil types available on the market:
- Conventional Oil: Some customers put price before quality, which would lead them to using conventional motor oil. In some cases this is acceptable for vehicles that are not subject to severe driving conditions, such as dusty roads, short trips, extreme heat or cold, or towing heavy loads.
- High Mileage Oil: Is designed for vehicle with high miles. This type of oil helps vehicles running better, longer by reducing oil burn-off, oil leaks and gradual loss of compression.
- Synthetic Blend Oil: A mixture of synthetic and conventional oils that serves as a midpoint between the two. It gives better protection and performance than conventional oil and provides better protection in severe driving conditions.
- Synthetic Oil “Full Synthetic Motor Oil”: This specially formulated oil is made for the highest level of protection and performance. Vehicle manufacturers today are requiring full synthetic oil, especially European manufacturers. BMW oil change service and Mercedes oil change service should only be done with full synthetic oil.
